Today was Charlotte's first day of Preschool! To celebrate, last night we had a special "back to school" dinner. Charlotte got to pick the menu (Mac n Cheese, Peas and Tomatoes/Mozzarella, Apple Crisp for dessert), make a crown and a magnet with what she wants to be when she grows up. Her choices for this year are a construction worker, a doctor and a dinosaur.
She got a special back to school present from Mimi that we saw at the bookstore on Sunday that we all enjoyed playing with!
She also got a new book about starting school called "The Kissing Hand" from Mom and Dad. She really enjoyed reading it and I think it helped a lot when it came time for the big day!
We went shopping on Sunday for a new outfit to wear for her special day. She was thrilled with her choices (all containing purple). It was a chilly morning today so she wore her warmest option of the bunch. She was very excited.
For some reason she thought she was taking a bus to preschool, and that Baylie was joining her.
We headed to school and she was in a great mood. I think it helped that we had been to her classroom a couple times before school actually started so she was familiar with the space and her teachers.
She found her cubby and hung up her bag. She kept her sweater on though for the whole day apparently. She is a California girl and not used to the chilly weather yet!
After she was all unpacked and checked in she headed into the room and didn't look back! The teachers allowed the kids to bring a special teddy with them for the first day. Charlotte chose Woof Woof and Chewy Dog to keep her company.
She and her teacher checked out the caterpillars. They will be learning all about butterflies!
We waited for all the kids/parents to arrive and then got introduced to each other. There are 4 boys and 3 other girls in her class with her. The boys are also very timid and young. I can see Charlotte taking control of the place... She wandered around for a while like she owned the place...
This is where she was when we left her. I had to go over and say goodbye, she didn't even look up, and Chris got a wave from across the room. She was loving it!
When we picked her up she was so excited about her day! Chris had to fix something in the room so we went inside for a bit. Another little girl was still there and she and Charlotte played until it was time to go. They were giving each other hugs, and Charlotte invited her to our house, and the little girl started to get in our car! I would say that Charlotte is happy to have playmates her age again! We couldn't be happier with our choice for Preschool!
