Daddy's Back!

Chris left last Friday for a short trip for work. Charlotte and I missed him but enjoyed our girl time together! I decided while he was gone to night time potty train Charlotte since I was sick of wet pull-ups in the morning. I am not sure as to why I decided to do this while Chris was gone, seeing how that would mean I was losing sleep... but we did it. She only had an accident the first night, and we have been dry for the past two! Today was also her last day of speech! We have accomplished a lot in the past week!

Chris came home this afternoon and Charlotte was thrilled to see him. He was exhausted since he stayed up late every night to fish while he was away, but after a nice cup of coffee he was ready to head down to the park to play! Of course Charlotte wanted to bring her baseball bat, mitt and glove to play ball! Chris didn't object! I am not sure who had more fun!

After a while Chris had to show her how to properly swing. She kept swinging down instead of across. After a few times she was good to go!
When Chris was done with his glove she ran back to the bench to put Chris' glove next to hers. They couldn't sit on the grass, they might get ruined.
It is always nice to have Chris home again. Charlotte just loves her Daddy!

She also loves having someone to take her across the big rocks!
And someone to race her. She loves racing Chris. She is getting pretty fast too!
We picked up some pizza and Chris and Charlotte spent the night playing trains and little people. They are now having a dance party before a shower while I enjoy having a break from the bedtime routine!!

Strollin...

I keep getting asked (the person shall remain anonymous) why I haven't been blogging as much, and why have I been taking pictures with my phone... Hopefully this post will clear some of that up. Charlotte has been extremely uncooperative when it comes to taking her picture. I get yelled at, scowled at and shown her bum. Therefore, if she doesn't see my camera I generally get a child with a better disposition. In an attempt to please a certain someone (again, anonymous) I brought my camera with me while Charlotte and I went for a walk the other day. She was less than thrilled. How dare I take pictures of her? Her baby had to join us as well.
She was downright uncooperative!

The best part of the walk was when she decided she had to pee. We were about a block from the house, I had nothing but my keys and my camera and I knew that we wouldn't make it back in time. I can't really carry her anymore and her little legs don't run very fast. So we went around the corner by a fence and she peed on someones lawn. We need to work on our squatting and peeing because it ran down the sidewalk, all over my shoes, and sprayed out and got on my pants. It was really lovely. But at least she didn't pee her pants!
There was one yard with lots of "wish flowers". She had a good time blowing them after she got the hang of it and realized it wasn't really "too hard". She refused to make a wish though.

We strolled nicely back home.
Then I tried to take her picture while she was aware of what I was doing. I got screamed at.
The screams of "DON'T TAKE MY PICTURE!" followed with her sulking on the step.
Hopefully once her baby brother/sister comes she will be more excited about getting her picture taken, and if not, at least you will have one cooperative baby to look at!

Catch up...

On Monday we had Abby and Lilly over to play. They hadn't been to our house in a long time, we always go to theirs! The girls hadn't seen each other since before Christmas so they were happy to play. That was until Charlotte decided that she was tired and was going to be a wee bit of a snot... up until that point though they had fun!
I have a picture of the girls standing at the door when they were babies... now they are so big!
We had a busy week. School, speech, school, speech! Luckily we will be done with speech next week! Charlotte does enjoy going though.
Last night we did her speech "homework". She thought it would be more fun to do this with the headlamp on. Whatever works. She went through all her flash cards, colored them, and got them all right. So basically she is entirely capable of pronouncing things correctly, she just chooses not to. (Like Gog, or Gaga, instead of Dad/Daddy... she can totally say it with a D...)

Yesterday at Target I found a premie size sleep set on clearance, and I knew it would fit Charlotte's new American Girl Doll. She had asked me for pajamas for her, and instead of spending $25 on one pair, I got these for $6! She was so thrilled and her baby has been sleeping with her ever since!
This afternoon we went down to the park. We haven't been in ages. Charlotte was very excited to swing and slide!
I waddled around... and you can see why!!!
Charlotte asked to feel the baby while she was swinging... I sure hope she loves the baby just as much when it comes out! She is also telling people it is a baby sister... I hope she isn't too disappointed if it is a baby brother!
Five weeks left...

Little Carpenter...

While we wait for the baby to make his/her appearance we have been busy getting the house ready. Our one major project, (I should say Chris' major project) for the last few months was turning an old door into a headboard! He finished it before he came home for Christmas, but it wasn't distressed and it ended up being more blue than black, so he repainted it and Charlotte and I helped him distress it!

The night before we went to Lowe's so Chris could get a few things he wanted with his gift card from his wonderful parents!!! Charlotte had a blast running around and even picked out her own tool belt. She was very excited to put it on in the morning and start working!
Charlotte did a great job or removing the nails from the wood that held the tarp over the door during the night. Chris painted a bit too late the night before...

I love the look of determination on her face!
Of course she wanted to do some more hammering, so Chris set her up with her own wood so she could hammer away.

She was a little off most of the time...
Nevertheless, she was very pleased with her creation!
Here is a picture of the door when Chris bought it. It took a lot of stripping and standing to get it ready to paint. He then added crown moulding! And after a long day of painting, sanding and mounting, our bed is finally complete! New linens were Christmas presents as well! Our room finally looks somewhat like an adults bedroom. (You can't see all the baby stuff hiding in the corner!)I am proud to say that I sanded most of the little circles and squares, and boy was that fun. I did end up with some paint on my belly and a sore back that night, but it was well worth it! We probably could have bought a bed for the same price that we ended up spending (tools included, since Chris didn't have many of the right ones) but it is so much more special that we made it!

Dance Class!

This morning Charlotte had her first dance class! Zoey and Hayden went too! It is a combo tap/ballet class and she just LOVED it. Chris and I laughed pretty hard most of the hour. She loved being able to look at the window and see us watching, and when I went to the front window to look she stopped what she was doing in class and yelled at me because I was watching at the wrong window! The best part was her attempt to do a somersault... first she layed on the ground twice, then when the teacher tried to help her she went into a handstand! She cried when it was all over and continually asked for more. We made a quick trip to Target to get her a leotard. (I didn't want to buy one before class in case she hated it!). She can't wait to go back next week!
