This morning Ellen, the girls and I went to meet Jenni, Marcus and her mom at the local forest/farm center for their annual Maple Syrup celebration. It was suppose to be warmer than it was, so the kids were a bit chilly but happy to be out of the house.
Charlotte checked the maple buckets to see if there was any sap. She was very pleased to see some in the bottom!
Caroline had her big puffy jacket on which she was not pleased with, and then she needed her diaper changed, which I changed on the cold ground. We are creating tough children over here!
We headed inside to the breakfast. The girls were hungry and ate lots of pancakes! The maple syrup was delicious!
Ellen and I ate in shifts, she now understand why it is easier for me when alone to stay home! We took Caroline outside when she was finished eating and did a jacket and glove change. She much preferred socks on her hands.
We then headed up to see the baby animals. Charlotte hopped right in the pig pen while Caroline watched from outside. I was afraid if I let her in she would have tackled a piglet.
Charlotte loved hanging out with the pigs!
Caroline is quite the brute. Poor Marcus was trying to see the piglets also, but Caroline wanted the whole entrance to herself, so she just pushed her way right over.
We then headed to the horse barn. Charlotte checked out the horses with Ellen and Jenni. Caroline wasn't allowed because she was likely to yell and scare the horses, or try to climb up their leg.
While Charlotte and Marcus were checking out the horses Caroline was checking out the sheep, since they were gated off and she couldn't possibly attack them.
Caroline started to quickly melt so we decided to head back, but not before Charlotte threw a nice snowball at Ellen! Sorry Ellen!
Both girls cried the whole wagon ride back, Caroline because she was over it and cold, and Charlotte because other kids got to sit in front of the wagon and "drive" the horses. It was a good lesson to learn, however I wish it didn't happen in the cold, on a wagon. I had to hold both girls, and they were still screaming. All in all it was a fun day, and I couldn't have done it without Ellen's help!! Thanks Ellen!
