Playground Fun

While the weather is still nice (and at this point nice means anything above 45 and not snowing), we have been trying to take advantage of some outside time after school. Killian is not a fan of wearing a hat but he actually left his on today for about the first half hour!
Charlotte's friend Olivia's mom brought some cereal bars that Olivia won't eat and Killian tried one and thought it was delicious. He took a bite and said "mmmm" and smiled each time.
It cracks me up at how he is all boy. He is always either covered in food or dirt!
It's so nice playing after school because the girls play so nicely with their friends and it's like I sort of only have one child. That one child however is becoming incresingly opinionated and adventurous.
He is quiet too. You can't turn your back for a second!
The girls had fun playing on the swings and of course Killian thought he should swing also!

One of the other moms brought out some hula hoops from her car and Caroline loved them. Her version of hula hooping is holding both sides and spinning all around!

The best part of staying to play is that when we get home it is just about dinner time! Chris picked up a pizza for half price pizza night and we were all set, it was a perfect afternoon!

Cider Party!

As tradition has it, we headed over to Grammy and Papa's the second week in October for the annual Cider Party. This year Grammy and Papa were still at the lake house which was nice to see it in the fall! It was beautiful!

We headed over Saturday afternoon and took our annual photo in the road. The kids are getting better about cooperating! Hard to believe last year Killian was only a month old!
 The boys...
When Charlotte and Caroline get along it is so nice!

 Killian wasn't so into cooperating.

We headed into the festivities. Killian of course loved being with Grammy and Papa!

Caroline found some wind chimes she thought were fun, until she broke one and used it as a sword...

We didn't see much of Charlotte, she found a friend and spent pretty much the whole afternoon/evening with her!
Caroline was a huge help making cider. She threw in lots and lots of apples.
She collected them from the truck too.

Killian thought the truck full of apples was the greatest thing ever.

He also liked eating the rotten apples.

We had a great weekend and are so happy that Lauren and Pete put this wonderful event on each fall!

Halloween

We had a great Halloween! Our morning was fairly typical and after naps we went to pick Charlotte up at school. They are not allowed to dress up at school but they have a parade after school. We grabbed Charlotte and got her quickly changed. She loved seeing all her friends costumes!

The little girls loved checking out all the big kids costumes!
Caroline was a bit terrified at a few of the costumes but warmed up to the idea that it was just someone dressed up. She still talks about the scary gorilla though!

The kids marched (or ran) over to the Assisted Living and Senior housing next door where they got some candy for their bags!
Once the parade was over we got loaded into the car and drove over to Grandma's for real trick or treating! The girls were so excited that their friend (grandma's neighbor) Baylee went with them. Now that Charlotte is in school we don't make it over as often and the girls don't get to see each other as much.
Caroline of course entertained us most of the night. Saying things like "hmmm. I'll take this one! I like those!" (Looking into the candy bowl) and when a man asked Charlotte if she was in Kindergarden Caroline chimed in with "I in first grade, with all my friends!". She was very funny.
After just about 2 hours(!!!!) of trick or treating we came home and dumped out the loot! Charlotte separated her candy into a like and dislike pile. (Charlotte doesn't like chocolate, well she likes "Kitty Kats" and caramels.)
Caroline was so excited she couldn't contain herself!

Once Killian figured out what was going on he was in on the action too, eating lollipops through the wrapper and such.
Even though it was almost time to turn off the lights we got a few trick or treaters at Grandmas and the girls were excited to pass out some candy.
Once they were all sugared up we got them changed into Jammie's and headed home!
It was a wonderful Halloween!

Halloween Costumes

Since we didn't go to the parade in Grandma's neighborhood this year, I didn't get an opportunity to take photos of the kids in the their costumes. I've learned that right before trick-or treating is way too busy, and usually dark, and now that Charlotte is in school I can't get photos of the three of them during the day. Tuesday was in the 60's which was a nice change, so after ballet we got changed and went to take some photos before the sun set. My normal lens I use is broken so I had to use my alternative lens which I don't love. Nevertheless, the pictures came out not too terribly.

The kids are going with an insect theme this year. We usually let Charlotte decide what she wants to be and the others follow. Caroline is just starting to have a say so next year will be interesting! Charlotte is a purple butterfly, Caroline a ladybug and Killian is a bumblebee! Killian's tolerance for being outside and not being held was fading. It was 5pm and dinner time and he was kind of grouchy, but we just went with it.

Happy Halloween from our little "bugs"!
