Last week of Soccer

Last Saturday was the last week of soccer. I thought since Chris was home that Charlotte would be all excited and do her best... but that wasn't the case. She was equally if not more pouty than she is for me!

Caroline was a good cheerleader and sat on the sidelines eating her doughnut.

Charlotte perked up when they started to play the wolf game, and of course Daddy had to be the wolf!
Which also meant that Caroline wanted to play too.

Caroline doesn't do such a great job just sitting and watching. She wants to be playing with or hugging Charlotte pretty much the whole time!
Charlotte did pretty good in the middle, probably because she was playing with Teddy.

Then she and Katie had an in depth conversation about their rock collections.

Meanwhile, Caroline tried her hardest to steal Maddie's snacks.
She finished off with the shootout and did a great job!

The kids had a great time all in all and we are looking forward to next year!

Fishing Derby

Last Friday night was the town's Fishing Derby. Chris was thrilled that he was around to go. Charlotte was excited too although she wasn't really showing it at first.
We went and signed Charlotte up and Caroline booked it towards the swings, except there weren't any toddler swings, just big kid swings, so Chris improvised. Charlotte was thrilled when she saw her best buddy Teddy and his family there too!
We made our way to the pond. Caroline thought it looked like fun to go swimming.
Charlotte got her worm out and ready to go. We had to tell her that fishing worms, and worms we have at home are two different things so she wouldn't feel bad feeding him to the fish!
Caroline wouldn't stay out of trouble so I tried to entice her with some snacks in the stroller. That only lasted about 2 minutes before out of desperation I took her over to Colette and Jerry's for a bit where she proceeded to scream for them. Sorry Colette and Jerry....
Charlotte enjoyed fishing with Chris for a while, then she decided that she needed to find Teddy.
Since there weren't any fish biting, they sent off to find Teddy's family.
Charlotte was much happier, even though they were on the complete wrong side of the pond for catching fish.

After about 15 minutes of fishing, Charlotte and Teddy gave up and decided running in the grass was much more fun.

Then Teddy's mom caught a fish. Charlotte and Teddy were very excited.
Charlotte didn't even hesitate to touch it at first.
Once it started flopping around she started acting a bit girly...
But she still touched it, very carefully with one finger!
They threw the fish back since it was the wrong kind for the derby and then they set off playing Lions, blowing dandelion flowers and running all over the place!

Is it any wonder they both had ticks on them at the end of the night? Charlotte was a little grumpy at the fact that she didn't catch a fish, but was pleased with her fishing goody bag. We went to pick up Caroline and then headed home after a fun evening!

Charlotte's First Bike

The time had come for Charlotte to make the transition from tricycle to two wheeler (with training wheels of course!). We had been putting it off because it takes her a while to get comfortable with something new and she was perfectly happy with her tricycle. With that being said, at 4 a real bike is sort of necessary as her knees almost hit the handlebars of the trike. So, once Chris got home and I did some researching, we took Charlotte to the bike shop to pick out her new bike.
We went with the bigger of the two, at 16'' bike instead of a 12'' because we knew she would quickly outgrow the 12''. She can get on and ride the 16'' but it is still a bit new to her and she is a little timid.

After she was done practicing she found a toad in the yard and happily made it a new home...

... in her new bike basket!
She was quite pleased with herself.

She gave the toad rides in the firetruck...

And rides on her bike! I am sure the toad just loved it. She did a good job at not squishing him and let him go back in the yard once she was finished!
Charlotte also got a new swing, since she was way too big for the toddler swing! She is thrilled!!

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for Charlotte's awesome bike, it will only be a matter of time before we are chasing her all over the neighborhood!
