Town Beach!

We happened to arrive right in the middle of a heat wave. It was very hot and humid. We headed to town beach once we were up and ready. Our friends Steph and Ashlynn met us as well as Ellen! Charlotte had a blast swimming with Ellen. I think she is going to love swimming lessons this summer! Caroline was hot and miserable. Grammy took her in the lake to cool off, then took her for a wall to get her to sleep. Charlotte swam for about two hours! Needless to say she fell asleep on the ride home. I just let her sleep and did a nap drive, which is quite different here than in San Diego! Apart from the bugs and hot weather we are loving being back! (A bug keeps attacking me as I type...) This evening Charlotte was yelling about a bug, turned out it was a tick crawling on her hand... We have a lot to get used to!

Flight home!

We have arrived safe and sound in New Hampshire! Charlotte and Caroline were both wonderful travelers. The first flight (5 hours) was long and a full flight. Luckily a nice lady offered to sit with us and help. She was wonderful and would take Caroline just to play with her! Charlotte asked about every 15 minutes if we were at Grammy and Papa's yet! Caroline took two little naps, both times falling asleep on her belly on the Boppy travel pillow which was a godsend! We had a quick layover and boarded our hour long flight to Grammy and Papa's! (Note to self: Do not attempt to take a jogging stroller in a regular size bathroom stall with a baby attached to your chest. A three year olds fingers might get pinched...) Charlotte took a little rest the second flight but Caroline was wide awake! She enjoyed watching the people around us! Charlotte was so excited to see Grammy and Papa and our new mini-van!!

Goodbye California!

Today is a very bittersweet day for us. The girls and I are headed back to the East Coast for the big move! We are very sad to leave all our friends but will always have the wonderful memories we have made here. Chris will still be here to have the house packed up and clean (he's so wonderful) but we will miss this house very much. It is the house we brought both girls home to and have had lots of happy times in it. We are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives!

San Diego Fair!

Yesterday after we picked Charlotte up from school we headed up to the fair. We originally planned on going to watch Zoey and Hayden and Charlotte's old dance class perform, but Ms. Reyna was working and it didn't work out for the twins to go. But we went anyway! Caroline was in a great mood and did so well! We weren't planning on staying all day but when we were just arriving I got a text from Abby asking me if I could watch her kids the following day (today). I mentioned we were at the fair and she responded that they were on their way up! So we hung out for longer than we planned but it was worth it. The kids had a blast! It was much better having someone to go on the rides with Charlotte besides Chris and I!
Charlotte saw the "Peter Pan" ride and decided she had to go on it. I couldn't believe it but she really did it! There were a few times that she had a look of panic as the guy bounced her up to the sky and she said "MOMMY I WANT TO GET OFF!" but she jumped for the whole two minuted and didn't even cry!

Charlotte loved having a "cheese dog", or cheese on a stick. Chris thought it was just cheese, but apparently they had to deep fry that too...

We of course had to play some games. Charlotte wanted to play the balloon game over and over. We settled on once.

She won a lovely purple monkey. I am so happy we have it to add to our collection!

Abby and Shane arrived as we were checking out the fake farm animals. The girls loved milking the pretend cow, especially after their cow milking experience on Friday!

We were in the area when it was time for the stick pony races. The girls lined up to race.

Charlotte of course chickened out and had to have Daddy and Caroline run with her.

The Uncle Shane bought everyone ice cream. The kids were a little grumpy so we thought they needed a pick me up.

It worked. They hit the rides. Charlotte was much happier having someone to go on them with. I have a feeling we would have had a grumpy child had Syrus and Lilly not have come!

It was a great day! A much longer than expected day, but lots of fun!

Farm Tour!

On Friday we went out to Jamul for a farm tour with our friends. It wasn't necessarally a "farm" by my east coast standards, more like a glorified petting zoo, but nevertheless, the kids enjoyed themselves. They got to feed the chickens, milk a cow, ride a pony and watch the pigs get hosed down and roll in the mud! To my surprise Charlotte was VERY into the animals! She loved feeding the chickens, even through there were about 50 of them swarming.. yuck. She also loved milking the cow and kept asking to do it again! Maybe we will have to have some wildlife when we move!
