Apple Picking

The apples are ready early this year so we headed out last weekend to pick some! It was a nice fall day, not too hot, which is a nice change from when we usually pick in San Diego! Mimi came over for the day and after we had a girls lunch (Charlotte, Mimi and myself) we went back home to pick up Chris and Caroline to go to the orchard! There were tons of apples and it didn't take us long to fill up our bags! We had lots of fun, Caroline really enjoyed eating the apples and crawling after them! We are looking forward to going back with Charlotte's school!!
Caroline loved her apples, and crawling after them too. It kept rolling away from her!

Charlotte took a break from picking and had a snack with Caroline.
 Caroline also enjoyed eating grass.
Where was Charlotte you ask? Pouting on the side...
Charlotte did a great job picking, although she wanted to pick the ones up high of course!

 The orchard was beautiful!
 Being silly...

Charlotte had to clean off each apple on her leg before she put it into the bag.
 Our final apple count...
 Someone doesn't like the skin.
 Super Daddy!

Family photo... Would have been even nicer if Charlotte would have been smiling!

They were a little heavy for Mimi to pull!
I can't wait for more fall activities!

First day of Preschool!

Today was Charlotte's first day of Preschool! To celebrate, last night we had a special "back to school" dinner. Charlotte got to pick the menu (Mac n Cheese, Peas and Tomatoes/Mozzarella, Apple Crisp for dessert), make a crown and a magnet with what she wants to be when she grows up. Her choices for this year are a construction worker, a doctor and a dinosaur.

She got a special back to school present from Mimi that we saw at the bookstore on Sunday that we all enjoyed playing with!

She also got a new book about starting school called "The Kissing Hand" from Mom and Dad. She really enjoyed reading it and I think it helped a lot when it came time for the big day!

We went shopping on Sunday for a new outfit to wear for her special day. She was thrilled with her choices (all containing purple). It was a chilly morning today so she wore her warmest option of the bunch. She was very excited.
For some reason she thought she was taking a bus to preschool, and that Baylie was joining her.

We headed to school and she was in a great mood. I think it helped that we had been to her classroom a couple times before school actually started so she was familiar with the space and her teachers.

She found her cubby and hung up her bag. She kept her sweater on though for the whole day apparently. She is a California girl and not used to the chilly weather yet!
After she was all unpacked and checked in she headed into the room and didn't look back! The teachers allowed the kids to bring a special teddy with them for the first day. Charlotte chose Woof Woof and Chewy Dog to keep her company.
She and her teacher checked out the caterpillars. They will be learning all about butterflies!
We waited for all the kids/parents to arrive and then got introduced to each other. There are 4 boys and 3 other girls in her class with her. The boys are also very timid and young. I can see Charlotte taking control of the place... She wandered around for a while like she owned the place...

This is where she was when we left her. I had to go over and say goodbye, she didn't even look up, and Chris got a wave from across the room. She was loving it!

When we picked her up she was so excited about her day! Chris had to fix something in the room so we went inside for a bit. Another little girl was still there and she and Charlotte played until it was time to go. They were giving each other hugs, and Charlotte invited her to our house, and the little girl started to get in our car! I would say that Charlotte is happy to have playmates her age again! We couldn't be happier with our choice for Preschool!

Baby pool

We spent Labor Day weekend in New Hampshire at Grammy and Papa's lake house. It was the first time Chris had been there and he was eager to take advantage of staying on the lake! Saturday morning Chris and I went to the hardware store to get some worms for fishing, and they had their summer stuff on clearance. We found a baby pool for Caroline for $5 and had to get it! She is a little small for the lake, but she loved playing in the pool on the deck! Chris and Charlotte went for a boat ride with Jimmy and his family while Caroline napped. When she woke up I filled up the pool and let her play. She was thrilled. So thrilled in fact that she kept trying to crawl out of it and tried very hard to grab the flowers on the bottom of the pool! Charlotte still doesn't move from a sitting position in the bath tub, Caroline on the other hand was practically swimming belly down in the water! When Charlotte returned she of course wanted to join her sister and the two of them had a great time! Who would have thought at pool at the lake would be so much fun!
