Sick

Saturday night after we left Lisa and Joes, and Charlotte had smothered Markus with kisses, I thought Charlotte felt warm after her bath. Chris assured me that she wasn't warm. I took her temperature anyway, and it was 102.5. I know that taking it after a bath can make it warmer, but not that warm! We put Charlotte to bed and watched it. Sunday morning it spiked to the 103's-104's. We spent the day putting her in the tub, tried Tylenol which didn't work, and finally Motrin. Monday morning I called her doctor and they told me to bring her in. Before that though Kelley and Lynsie came over to drop off some more Motrin and some pedialite for Charlotte. The Motrin brought her fever down and she felt well enough to play outside!

She wasn't quite herself though. She was rubbing her face, ears, nose anything. So I wanted her to just get checked out to make sure she didn't have an ear infection or sore throat. So we went to the doctor. She had a 101.3 temp when we got there even with the Motrin. Her peditrician thought it was just a virus but told me to be careful if her fever got above 105, she should probably have blood work done. By the time we got home her temperature was already up in the 103's. I gave her some more Motrin and put her down for a nap.
She didn't sleep very well. She woke up screaming and I went in to check on her. She had a 105 degree fever, and that was two hours after having the dose of Motrin. So we headed up to Children's Hospital and they assured us it would be quick. Well, it wasn't. We sat outside and after about an hour she stopped screaming and her temp started to drop. By the time they took her vital signs, she was down to 99 degrees and itching to go home and have some food! Charlotte and I got the car and Chris went in to tell them we were going to leave. Well, they didn't like that, so they told us they had a room for us right then and they really wanted to check Charlotte. So we agreed.
Charlotte was plain old bored. She entertained herself with my wallet.
And her shoes...
Finally we had had enough. The nurse came in once, only because Chris went out to ask what was going on, and they asked if they could catheterize Charlotte to get a urine sample to rule out a UTI. Uh.. no. Plus her doctor checked for it earlier. So we decided to leave and come home. She was acting pretty normal at that point. We kept her dosed with Motrin throughout the night, and she woke up Tuesday morning without a fever.. but stay tuned... it came back!
