Wagon Ride

It has been pretty warm the last couple days, causing a lot of our snow to melt. This afternoon we decided to take the girls outside in the wagon for a little walk. It was a bit colder than we expected but they enjoyed themselves. Caroline hasn't been in the wagon since the fall and was pretty good in the beginning at sitting down.
The girls enjoyed getting chauffeured around and Chris and I did our best to not slip in the mud! I am already not looking forward to mud season in the spring, dirt roads are very slippery to drive on!

We got to the top of the hill and Caroline had had enough. Chris decided that he would ride down the hill with them, except they were a little bit too heavy.

Charlotte did a great job keeping Caroline on her bottom. Once we got to the top of the hill though it was all useless, the child wanted to stand and the child was going to stand.

She also tried to climb out...

She was not very happy once we put her back in and made Charlotte hold onto her.

So she ended up in Chris' arms for the rest of the walk back. Spoiled little baby she is! I think both she and Charlotte enjoyed the temporary thaw and gave us a glimpse of spring.... now we shall prepare for the temperatures to drop again and hopefully more snow, it just looks so boring outside if it is going to be so cold!

A Warmer Day.

Last Tuesday after Charlotte got home from school and Caroline got up from her nap, we decided to take the girls outside since it was in the high 30's. Since it wasn't so cold we didn't dress Caroline in her typical snow outfit, just some fleece pants with windbreaker ones over top, her jacket, hat and mittens. She was much happier with this crawl-able outfit! She even practiced her walking standing, taking one step and dive bombing into whoever is close by. She was quite happy to play with Charlotte's snow fort and her "castles" she made. She also found some sticks which she thought were quite delicious. Eventually her mitten fell off and she started to cry, which I took as she was ready to go inside, however upon taking her in and getting her stuff off she just proceeded to scream and watch Charlotte and Chris from the window or door. We eventually talked Charlotte into coming inside and playing with Caroline, which Caroline was quite pleased with! It was a fun snow day!

Playing

We have been enjoying hanging out playing the last few days. It was cold for a while so we have been hanging out indoors. The girls have been having a blast with their play silks from Amy. Chris has been enjoying them too. They came with clips to hook them together, or string them up and make a fort, which has been Charlotte's favorite thing. She loves to put the silks up and then take the iPad into her fort and yell at her baby sister to stay out. In her defense, Caroline does like to sit on the iPad, as well as pull down the play silks! Caroline can be easily distracted with a basket, as she loves to sit in them. She can climb in and out with ease and just chills...

While Charlotte was in school on Tuesday we had some playtime with just Caroline. She took a shower with Chris to clean off my poorly middle of the night diaper change that went bad, and enjoyed playing in just a diaper for a while. She is getting really good at standing, and taking about 3 steps before she gives up! As much as she loves Charlotte being home she is just as happy when she is at school and she can play with all of Charlotte's forbidden things!

Playing in the Snow!

After our visit to Grammy and Papa's when it was very cold and windy, Charlotte has decided it is took cold to play in the snow. She didn't go outside once this past week. Today the temperature rose a bit and was in the 30's. Chris went out to cut a ring off of our Christmas tree (in his shorts) and came in and told Charlotte it was nice and warm and to come play. So we got her suited up, with extra warm clothes, just in case, and out she went! They started with making a snowman. Aunt Korey, Uncle Chuck and the kids sent the girls a little snowman making kit that came with a hat, carrot, buttons, eyes and a pipe. Charlotte couldn't wait to use it.  They made a little snowman because the snow apparently wasn't the right consistency for snowman building according to Daddy. Charlotte was thrilled with her snowman, he was nice and little and apparently he was telling her jokes! We forgot arms, but before coming inside she reminded Chris and I am happy to report the snowman now has arms! (The last time Charlotte attempted to make a snowman it ended up a little pile of snow. She asked Chris for a carrot for his nose and wanted to know if it was fresh from the garden. We then saw her sitting on the front step eating the carrot!)

Chris and Charlotte played outside for quite a while. They made a new sledding hill in the woods and were working on Charlotte's snow fort when Caroline woke up. Caroline has been sick this past week with an awful little cold. Just yesterday she started with the coughing. Since she isn't a terrible fan of the snow to begin with, we watched Daddy and Charlotte from the window. Baylie didn't like it when Daddy started throwing snowballs at the window! Charlotte however thought it was hysterical and continued throwing them. Chris lifted Charlotte up (the windows are high up in the living room) and she was making Caroline laugh from outside! I think poor Caroline really wanted to go out. Maybe once she is walking! (Which is getting closer, she took 5 steps yesterday!) It was a nice, relaxing Sunday!
